Westwood member Jim Irby is a graduate of the University of Virginia and the founding principal of Irby Architects, PC. For more than thirty years, Jim has worked in both residential and commercial architecture brining a very ‘hands on’ approach to each project. He maintains a focus on an adaptive re-use of historic buildings, particularly in Richmond’s historic Fan neighborhood. Jim also specializes in custom residential projects including residential additions, multi-family residential buildings, small scale office buildings and retail centers.

As an avid squash player, Jim is very familiar with the upper squash area- the potential the space has and the needs of the players below. His long experience as an architect, his service on Westwood’s House Committee and his time as a Westwood member make him an ideal expert to take on the project of converting this area into a usable multipurpose space to be enjoyed by our members.
